Premium Cement Coated XPS Overlay Boards for Water Underfloor Heating
Upgrade your floors with our high-performance cement-coated XPS overlay boards — the ideal low-profile solution for installing water underfloor heating in both new and existing projects. Designed for domestic and commercial applications, these boards deliver excellent thermal insulation while keeping build-up height to a minimum.
Manufactured from premium 300kPa high-density XPS foam, our overlay panels are thermally efficient, lightweight, fully waterproof, and topped with a durable reinforced cement coating. This creates a strong, stable surface perfect for direct tile bonding or other floor finishes with minimal preparation.
Key Features & Benefits
- Quick & Easy Pipe Installation — Pre-routed channels accommodate 15mm or 16mm flexible low-pressure underfloor heating pipes at 150mm spacings, with straight runs, return bends, and cross channels included.
- Low-Profile Design — Only 20mm thick (including 3mm cement layer) for minimal floor height increase — perfect for installations over existing floors.
- Superior Insulation — High-density XPS provides outstanding thermal performance, reducing heat loss and improving underfloor heating efficiency.
- Robust Cement Facing — Reinforced cement coating offers excellent compressive strength and a reliable base for direct tiling or other coverings.
- Versatile Compatibility — Suitable for solid floors (concrete, screed, asphalt) and suspended timber floors (boarded with tongue-and-groove or chipboard).
- Easy to Work With — Lightweight panels cut easily with a standard saw or knife; lay in staggered brick-bond pattern for stability.
Each panel measures 1200 x 600 x 20mm and covers 0.72m². Fix securely to level existing floors using standard tile adhesive.
Important: Due to the product’s fragility, all orders are shipped by pallet for safe delivery.
Recommended Flooring Finishes
Choose the right preparation for your preferred floor covering:
Tiles or Stone Prime the surface and pipe channels if needed, then bond tiles directly using an S2-rated flexible tile adhesive. No additional levelling required in most cases.
Laminate or Engineered Wood Lay a breathable underlay over the boards, then float your planks directly on top. Always install a floor temperature sensor to prevent overheating and protect the wood.
Carpet or Vinyl Prime the surface and channels, then apply a self-levelling compound (5–10mm thick). Alternatively, cover with thin wooden sheets (max 6mm). Ensure the combined carpet + underlay tog rating does not exceed 2 tog.
Maximum Pipe Length
- 100m maximum per loop (for optimal performance and even heat distribution).
These cement-coated XPS underfloor heating boards offer a fast, reliable solution that enhances comfort, energy efficiency, and installation speed. Perfect for updating existing concrete, screed, or timber subfloors without major disruption.
