Description
Perimeter insulation reduces thermal bridging to minimise heat loss into walls and is an essential material with in-screed installations. Furthermore, the insulation strip provides a cushion for the expansion and contraction of the screed during heating and cooling. Edge insulation should be laid against all solid structures within the room including walls, pillars, columns and steps.
Screed floors without edge insulation are prone to cracking causing the pipes to split. It’s essential to use perimeter stip when installing underfloor heating in screeds and we strongly advise against using strips of Kingspan/Celotex in place of the correct installation materials.
